About me

Hi, my name is Ólöf Benediktsdóttir and I’m an artist living and working in Reykjavík, Iceland. I graduated from the fine arts department of the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2013 and have kept active since graduation. In 2015 I set myself a goal to set up or participate in 12 exhibitions in one year and ended in a total count of 14. After that I wanted to focus on poetry for a while  and got involved in a slam poetry project and travelled to countries in northern Europe to learn about the slam poetry scene in those countries. Now I organise slam poetry events along with my partner in poetry, Jón Magnús Arnarsson. If you ever get a chance to see him perform I highly recommend it.

I have also been loosely involved in the music scene, mainly through Norðanpaunk, a DIY fringe music event held in Laugarbakki every year since 2013. I have learned so much about organising and setting up events through working with the highly talented team of volunteers that come together every year to make this fantastic gathering happen. I am so very grateful for what I have learned and the people I have gotten to know through the great community that has formed around the event.

For the past year I have been lucky enough to do some Dj-ing with my friend Þrándur Jóhannsson as the Dj-duo Marbendill&Hexía.

These days I spend my days making visual art, organising events, DJ-ing and studying music. It’s pretty much all I ever dreamed of.

Thanks for visiting my page! Have a look around, buy some art if you feel like it or send me a message if you are interested in hiring me or wanna propose a collaboration. Have a nice day!
